Al Purdy: A-Frame Work

A 7-minute video about the legendary Canadian poet, Al Purdy, composed from several documentaries by Brian D. Johnson, with permission from the producers. This reel was shown at The Al Purdy Show, a fundraiser held at Koerner Hall in Toronto on Feb. 6, 2013. With a cast of poets and musicians that included Margaret Atwood, Dennis Lee, Gord Downie and Gordon Pinsent, the show was part of a campaign to restore Purdy’s A-Frame cottage in Prince Edward County, Ontario. The A-Frame, where Purdy lived and wrote, was once a mecca for the pioneers of CanLit. It has been turned into a writers’ retreat, where his legacy will inspire a new generation.
