The Al Purdy A-Frame Association is a registered charity established to restore Al Purdy’s A-frame cabin in Ameliasburg, Ontario as a writing residence. Since July 2014, when poet Kathereine Leyton inaugurated the program, residency has been an extraordinary success, with a steady stream of writers making the pilgrimage, and producing several books of published poetry. The residency is open for eight months a year, between April 1 and November 30, and successful applicants are paid a stipend of $2,500. Applications can be made via the APAFA website.
