Al Purdy A-Frame Association

The Al Purdy A-Frame Association is a registered charity established to restore Al Purdy’s A-frame cabin in Ameliasburg, Ontario as a writing residence. Since July 2014, when poet Kathereine Leyton inaugurated the program, residency has been an extraordinary success, with a steady stream of writers making the pilgrimage, and producing several books of published poetry. The residency is open for eight months a year, between April 1 and November 30, and successful applicants are paid a stipend of $2,500. Applications can be made via the APAFA website.

Two videos created by BDJ for the Association, which led to the development of Al Purdy Was Here:

•Al Purdy: A-Frame Work – an archival montage presented at the APAFA’s Al Purdy Show benefit at Toronto’s Koerner Hall in February 2013
• Al Purdy: A-Frame Trailer
 – highlights from The Al Purdy Show
